Each student has a unique learning style and unique needs. Recognizing, accessing, and accommodating these needs effectively can avoid lots of stress and make classroom management easier…and that leads to more retained students.
- Research shows that 1 in 6 students (including those without a diagnosis) has some kind of sensory challenge.
- Sensory avoiding and seeking challenges lead to learning difficulties and behavioral dysregulation.
- In a typical class of 12 students, a teacher will have 2 students who are struggling.
- Lack of awareness and ability to accommodate will lead to lost student retention.
- Multiply the number of classes on your schedule by 2.
- Can you afford to lose that many students each year?
Equip your staff (including your desk staff) with the tools and strategies to help students thrive in class!
Here’s what you’ll learn during the 4 weeks:
- Learn theABC’s of behavior, along with tips and strategies to help students self-regulate and participate appropriately.
- Learn how our external and internal sensory perception impacts behavior and learning, and what you can do in class to accommodate sensory needs.
- Understand key executive functions and the role they play in participatory skills, and what you can do to help foster skill development.
- Recognize behavioral indicators to determine a student’s learning type and learn appropriate teaching strategies to accommodate all learner types.
